KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Pro Bowl cornerback Ty Law agreed to a five-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Law will rejoin Herman Edwards, who coached him with the New York Jets last year, when the veteran came back from a severe foot injury and led the NFL with 10 interceptions. Chiefs spokesman Bob Moore said Law will take his physical Monday.

Edwards, who replaced Dick Vermeil as head coach of the Chiefs, is a former Pro Bowl cornerback and has vowed to revamp a Kansas City defense that the past five years has been near the bottom of the league.

The 32-year-old Law, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, will pair with Patrick Surtain in what could be the Chiefs' strongest secondary since James Hasty and Albert Carter anchored the backfield in the mid-1990s.

Also bolstering the defense will be end Tamba Hali, the team's first-round pick out of Penn State who is thought to be close to signing a contract that would get him in uniform for the start of training camp in River Falls, Wis., on Friday.

Since 2001, a woeful defense has hurt the Chiefs' offense, which racked up yards and points behind running backs Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson, tight end Tony Gonzalez and Pro Bowl linemen Brian Waters, Will Shields and Willie Roaf.

But the defense last year showed signs of coming around, with the signing of Surtain and the emergence of second-year defensive end Jared Allen, who led the team with 11 sacks.

Law cost the Jets around $6 million last year. Terms of his deal with Kansas City were not immediately available.

His presence is certain to excite both fans and teammates, as it did Allen, who was driving to Kansas City on Sunday when told of the news.

"That is awesome," he shouted.

When he turned to teammate and linebacker Boomer Grigsby and told him, Grigsby let out a whoop, too.

"That's going to be a huge help to us," Allen said. "Our defense is going to be awesome. The guy's a great athlete, a great player. He's been to the Super Bowl."

The Chiefs talked with Law last year before he signed with the Jets. They were one of several teams interested in picking him up this season.

"I didn't think it would happen," Allen said. "Rumors were always floating around. But I'm really glad we got him."

So.... I'm back home as of early Friday morning. I didn't graduate as a Marine, which sucks. I got sent home for my hip problems, which they told me was "Bilateral Hip Arthralgia". Basically they hurt, lol. Anyhow, I was pretty dissappointed when it happened, but I was ready to come home. Boot camp was supposed to last 3 months, it took me 5 and I didnt even get the title...but I learned a lot of life lessons, put on a bit of muscle, and now I got a bunch of funny stories. lol. It feels good to be back. I'll drop some stories on here later, but I don't feel like getting into that stuff yet. I will soon.  Thanks Kylie for everything. I feel like I never leftMUAH

Here are a few pics of me coming home:

This one was at the cookout at my uncles last night

Hey everyone...this is Kylie....just givin a little update for Kyle

Originally, Kyle was suppose to graduate from the marines on April 16th, but unfortunately he developed some problems with his hips that forced him to be held back for almost a month in the Medical Rehabilitation Platoon (MRP). Luckily, he healed and was put back into a regular platoon and promoted as Platoon Leader within 1 hour of arriving. His graduation date was postponed until May 19th. We (Kyle's family and I) were getting within a month of going out to see him graduate in San Diego, CA; but his hips started becoming a problem once again, and he was sent to MRP for the 2nd time. Kyle was diagnosed with Cellulitis in his hip (an acute inflammation of the connective tissue of the skin, caused by infection with staphylococcus, streptococcus or other bacteria)...which he's still on antibiotics for now. It's a very painful process, and I hope that everyone will  keep Kyle in their prayers!

As of the moment, no one is really sure when Kyle's graduation is going to take place...we're just waiting to see how long it will take for his hips to fully recover so he can return to regular training. Kyle has been gone 3 1/2 months, and we're all anxious to see how much he's grown and accomplished.

Please keep Kyle in your mind, heart, and prayers as he prepares to complete his training as a marine.

We're so proud of you Kyle.

heres a few of my favorite pictures of Kyle and his family before he left.....

i miss you and love you baby....<3 dont forget it.

Hey guys. This is the last chance I'll get to update for a few months. I want everybody to know that everything you all have done for me over the past few weeks has been great. I thank everyone who has sent that text message, left a nice comment, or called, or came to my sendoff, or was at my other party, lol. I know it's going to be a tough road, but thinking of all my family and friends will help get me through it.

Kylie - I FRIGGIN LOVE YOU BACK! lol. Baby, you've given me lots of laughs, smiles, and kisses and such over the past 5 months, and I've enjoyed it tremendously. I know that we belong together, and I PROMISE I will still be me after everything. I know I'll be buff and stuff, but underneath that sweet body, I'll still be the lovable guy you know me to be. I love you Kylie. MUAH

Think of me often, and pray

Kyle
